Buffalo Run performing on stage at the Church-McKee Arts Center.
The Mountain Streams Music Celebration was held on Saturday, October 26, at 7:30 p.m., at the Church-McKee Arts Center Auditorium on the WVU Potomac State College campus. This special concert benefited the WVU Potomac State College athletics and the community radio station, Mountain Streams Radio WKYW 102.9.
The evening was overflowing with fantastic music, camaraderie, and opportunities to make a meaningful impact on the community. The concert highlighted homegrown Appalachian old-time and traditional American music featuring Buffalo Run, Critton Hollow, Dakota Karper, and the WVU Bluegrass Band.
Dr. Brian Plitnik, a PSC assistant professor of music, and Fred Kesner, a community music leader, were honored between musical sets. Several past professors were memorialized, to include Dr. Travis Stimeling, a music professor at WVU Morgantown, and past professors at PSC—Philip Faini who established the first marching band at PSC, Dr. John Hawkins who taught music and produced numerous large-scale musical theatre productions, Richard Davis who was a professor of music, and Dr. Charles Whitehill, who was the chair of the music department and the Division of Arts & Humanities.
